Connecting non-domain Mac computers to Secure Release
It is possible to enable the Print Scout to allow local macOS users to successfully list and release jobs from a Secure Printer connected to an Active Directory. This feature is activated by updating the Setup.ini in the Mac Scout installation package with a fixed domain name.
Note: This feature only applies to new installations of the Mac Print Scout. There is no upgrade path for existing Print Scouts.
To connect non-domain Macs to Secure Release:
- Download the Mac Print Scout installation Package (from the Assessment > Print Scout screen). The package includes the Setup.ini file.
- Open Setup.ini and then add the line Domain=domain_name where Domain specifies the domain name that you want to use for Secure Print.
Note: Make sure that the value entered for the domain matches the domain name of the machine where the Device Scoutis installed. The local Mac username must exactly match the domain username. When the domain value is set, it replaces the local machine name and then sends domain\username rather than computer\username as the user ID.
- Install the Mac Print Scout as usual.
- Mass deploy the Mac Print Scouts to Mac workstations.
